Hi there! I am Chau Yuk Yi and you can call me Becky. I am currently in the SMIB Doing Business in Asia track.
I always have a passion to connect with people. I studied Language and Communication at The University of Hong Kong during my undergraduate studies. Following graduation, I worked as a business executive in a telecommunications company where I helped to build a more interconnected world through selling connectivity solutions. Subsequently, I worked in the public sector to gain insight into the role of government and its measures to facilitate private industry development.
Having a previous taste in both the private and public sectors, I realized that I am more passionate to be in the corporate frontlines to lead a company to business success.
To accomplish my goal, I believe that SMIB is a perfect choice.
SMIB is ranked as a top master’s program in the world. The up-to-date business knowledge and tools I acquired in class serve as an anchor to my practical experience and will enhance my repertoire. In addition, the Asian SMIB includes Asian Strategy Challenge which is a company project that students have to partner with companies to complete a project. Students can put into practice the newly acquired knowledge and skills. This year, there are projects provided by a multinational cosmetics company, a sustainability solutions company, a beverage manufacturing company, etc., which basically cover everybody’s interests.
Moreover, SMIB is a truly international program in which I meet students and professors from all over the world. I am always inspired by the different perspectives brought by my classmates and professors in class discussions and group projects.
I am very grateful for having chosen a suitable program for myself and I wish that you do as well. I am more than happy to answer your questions about this wonderful program.
