My name is Benedikt, and I just embarked on my long and exciting journey at ESSEC, just as you might be about to. I am in the second year of the Master in Management (MIM) after getting a degree in a totally different field during my Bachelor's back home in Germany. I tried a couple of different fields before coming to ESSEC, never really finding the place that was right for me and my career goals before coming here.
Now, I am surrounded by interesting international classmates, a multitude of flexible courses with excellent professors, and an environment that brings me closer every day to reaching my goals and becoming the kind of person I want to become.
My career goal is maybe somewhat stereotypical for a German, but it represents my deepest passions and interests: I want to start a brewery as an entrepreneur in the long term, and seeing the kind of options available at ESSEC immediately motivated me to apply to this school.
The amazing chairs and tracks can fit almost any interest (In my case, I hope to join the LVMH Chair: The Future of Luxury or the Food Business Challenges Chair), the international partner schools and partner companies are world-renowned, and the career services and opportunities are outstanding.
Another thing that I truly appreciate with my background is that it doesn't matter if you come to ESSEC with little or no professional or international experience - what matters much more is an open mind, motivation, and a purpose that drives you. What you will find here is a bunch of the most motivated, passionate, and creative people that you're probably ever going to meet.
I remember well all the uncertainties I faced before coming here, from preparing my application to the challenge of moving to a different culture (Yes, I have also had to adapt even as a European). It is, for this reason, I decided to apply to be a program ambassador, to lift up others who are on the same path I was and in many ways still am. I am here to help you with your questions and share my experience with you, and I'm genuinely interested in hearing from you. Please feel free to reach out, even if you feel that you are still far from reaching your goal - it may all happen more quickly than you'd think.
All the best,
Benedikt
