Translation in Russian and English, Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium)
French, English, Russian, Mandarin (intermediate)
I'm Michel, a 25-year-old student in ESSEC's Master in Finance program on the Singapore campus. Although I was born in Brussels, I've had quite the journey, growing up in Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Denmark, and the Czech Republic. This made me curious about the world early on, and it’s part of what led me to where I am today. I studied Russian Translation in Brussels and then worked in sales and marketing roles, which sparked my interest in finance. I realized I wanted to gain a deeper understanding of the markets and a solid theoretical basis from which to appraise investments.
While preparing for the GMAT and the CFA exams, I received encouragement from friends in Luxembourg to apply to ESSEC. It was a bold move, but one I'm grateful for every day. Studying in Singapore, at a world-class institution, feels like an amazing opportunity for someone who is always looking for new adventures.
What makes ESSEC so special for me is the incredible diversity and brilliance of the people I'm surrounded by. Our class includes engineering, business, maths, and law graduates, each bringing a unique perspective to the table. That’s something ESSEC recognizes and values, and the school provides all the necessary resources to make full use of our potential. From field visits to companies like JP Morgan, to networking with alumni, or coaching on interviews and tests, ESSEC truly equips us with all the tools we need to succeed. I'm more than willing to answer your questions and share my experiences. I’m always up for a chat. Feel free to reach out!
