Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) with a Major in Finance, McGill University, Montréal, Canada
French, English, Spanish
Bonjour / Hi & Welcome!
My name is Alexandra, I am 23 and I am currently a first-year student in the 2-year ESSEC’s Master in Finance program.
Prior to joining ESSEC, I was an undergraduate student at McGill University where I studied Management with a major in Finance. After obtaining my bachelors’ degree, I worked in Private Equity for a year in order to get a comprehensive, hands-on experience in the field of Finance while figuring out what I actually wanted to do next. Turns out that not only did this internship allow me to dive into the specifics and understand the intricacies of private investments but it was also a real eye-opener for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the fast-paced environment, the challenging investment cases, learning on a daily basis and being supervised by a team that is passionate about their job. Working alongside such inspiring professionals, I came to the realization that if I ever wanted to become a proficient financial analyst in either Paris, London, Hong Kong or even New York, I had to hone my technical and critical analysis skills and gain additional insights about the industry. Keeping in mind these objectives while looking for an adequate Masters program, ESSEC’s Master in Finance naturally appeared to be the perfect match for me.
I chose ESSEC for its internationally-renowned, diverse pool of talents and the international angle promoted by the school. Having received a culturally-diverse upbringing and having lived abroad for several years, these factors are what prompted me to apply to ESSEC. By joining the school, I could get the best out of both worlds: being part of a university fostering the creation of an international network of students while studying in my home country.
At ESSEC, as you will benefit from the advice of knowledgeable professors and admin professionals who will help you unlock your potential, the career-oriented programs will take you one-step closer to landing your dream internship or job while making friends from all over the world. Last but not least, becoming an ESSEC student also implies being part of the school’s prestigious worldwide alumni community for a lifetime.
With that being said, if you still need some convincing regarding why you should choose ESSEC, do not hesitate to reach out and get in touch with me. I would be more than happy to answer any question you may have at this stage.
Looking forward to meeting all of you soon!
