Bachelor of Civil Engineering, University of The Andes (Colombia)
Hello and Hola!
My name is Federico, I’m from Colombia and I’m currently enrolled in the first year (M1) of Master in Data Sciences and Business Analytics 2-year program.
Before starting this journey, I pursued my Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and after graduating I spent over 2 years working in the construction industry. There, I was able to identify the challenges that many companies face because they don’t use their own data in a proper manner. Productivity is low, investments can be misplaced and, most important of all, time is lost. Then I realized that I wanted to learn how to solve these problems.
Because of my engineering background, I looked for a program with a strong “technical” area, but I also wanted it to have a business problem-solving orientation. Besides that, I knew that a multi-cultural environment in which I would meet people from all over the world; with different ideas and different ways of seeing life, would be the best thing for my development as a person and as a professional. After setting myself to that, I did my research and found out that the DSBA program of ESSEC and CentraleSupélec “checked all the boxes” and was by far the best option.
When I got accepted into the program it seemed too good to be true, but let me say that since I arrived in France and started the degree, it is even better than I imagined. I have met people from all over the world and I have also been able to submerge myself in the historically rich French culture. Besides that, my lectures are being given by world class professors in two of the best business and engineering schools of Europe.
If you are looking for a program in which you’ll have to open your mind to a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment that will challenge you every day; then the DSBA program is for you. And if you have any question about the program, life in France or about anything else, don’t hesitate in contacting me; I’ll try to help you with anything I can.
