Hello, Hola, Bonjour!

My name is Evan Smith, I’m from Ojai, California and I am currently a part of the Circular Economy Chair in the Master’s in Sustainability Transformation program.
After spending 6 years working in Boston as a Consultant in the MedTech industry, I decided to take a sabbatical to search for a more meaningful career in line with my passions. Following a lot of reflection and time spent outdoors, I arrived at the decision to leverage my business background to make a positive impact on the planet. Given my interests and goals, ESSEC turned out to be the perfect place for me.
Having earned my Bachelor’s degree in International Studies (Economics and Spanish) from Middlebury College in the United States, I was drawn toward studying abroad in France to learn a new language and culture. With experiences in an exchange program in Chile and an internship in Argentina already, I knew I wanted to gain more exposure to new ways of thinking - particularly the European approach to sustainability.
With the MSc in Sustainability Transformation program, I hope to explore further consulting opportunities, start-up environments, and even public life as I move forward in my career.
If you have any questions about the program, moving to France, life in Cergy, or anything else, don’t hesitate to reach out!
